Post 6: A journalist that I admire
Gabriel García Márquez (1927-2014) Colombian novelist known for his talent for combining literature with journalism, creating a new narrative, sometimes called as "magical realism". He studied laws and journalism, to then dedicate himself fully to journalism in newspapers and later start with novels. In 1955 his first novel was published: "La hojarasca". Once I read a speech of him called "The best job in the world", and it made me think a lot about my career. He spoke of the vocation, the vertigo of communications, and the passion needed to be a journalist. I like the way he told real facts, often form Latin America, and transformed them into captivating stories. And to get that you have to do an exhaustive job, talking with a lot of people, know all the details.
